Fuso Santek 2

Today we have a look again how things are going with the building of the FUSO SANTEK expedition vehicle.

The camperbox is now on the chassis and there was an interesting situation when the FUSO SANTEK came side to side to the Lazy Daze.

After the pivotal system has been installed it needed to be tested. To see how much it would move sideways in extreme circumstances. The reason for the pivotal system is to release friction from the camperbox when the chassis is twisted.
The wheels of the front axle are even with the street, but the wheels of the back axle are in an extreme angle. Because of the pivotal system the box remains almost in line with the cabin of the truck.
Chief engineer Roberto looks at the pivotal system, which he designed, while shaking the box.Owner and general manager of Santek Trailers, Paul Westphal, discusses with chief engineer Roberto the corrections needed on the pivotal system. The sides of the upper part of the pivotal system are made in a sharper angle.Later the sides are being smoothed out.
The final state of the pivotal system. Note that it can twist sideways but also lengthwise.

It is time to put the floor in. It is first laid out next to the FUSO SANTEK and a special coat is apllied. This will be the bottom.

Made to fit, the floor panels are put into the steel cage.
The last section of the floor, which is in an angle because of ground clearing, has to be custom made. The panels are glued together with a product called " liquid nails ".

The panels are also screwed to the steel beams underneath.

The FUSO SANTEK is being put back inside the buildings of SANTEK Trailers and now Chief-engineer Roberto draws on the floor the plan.
