Coming and going

Two major events in one day!

After 5 days Alfredo returned to the rancho.

As most loyal and fervent blog readers know, Alfredo is the owner of the terrible dog called Gorba who he chained to a tree.
Reason being that Gorba was chasing and murdering goats.
Besides the horror for a dog to be suddenly without its freedom and to have a miserable existence on a chain under a tree, the extra suffering was Alfredo’s lack of interest to feed the poor dog properly.

Last Sunday Alfredo left again leaving his two dogs without any care.
He has a girlfriend somewhere who takes so much of his attention that he forgets everything about his own rancho.

For months and months efforts were made to evacuate Gorba to another rancho without goats.
And finally last Wednesday the big day happened.
Gumaro, Alfredo’s brother, was going in a truck to La Paz and took Gorba and the other dog to the goat free rancho.

In the first place for the dogs, this is a fantastic development.
But also for the persons having sympathy for dogs and animals.
Not to have to walk anymore past the chained dog desperate for food, water, attention and freedom.
Not to have to hear Gorba bark and cry anymore with sadness and depression night and day.

The big question was what would happen when Alfredo would come back.
Would he be upset, angry, aggressive, disappointed or dissatisfied?

Yesterday, on the way to the daily cup of real coffee in Ketcha’s kitchen, it was noticed that Alfredo was back.
And surprise, surprise, he had brought with him a super large bag of Pedigree dog food.
How shocking.

Last week he was asked to buy a bag and he had been foul mouthing.
Obviously, he had been thinking about the request and his response and had come to the conclusion that he was wrong and should take his responsibility for the dogs and bought the expensive dog food.
Right at the moment he became a better man for his dogs, he comes back and he finds them gone.

Alfredo was already in Ketcha’s kitchen.
He was greeted not knowing if he would explode in anger.
But in the end, it was Alfredo’s own brother who had taken away the dogs.
Not the photographer although he had been scheming and pushing to have this happen.
Alfredo was softly touched on the shoulder and asked how his holiday with the girlfriend had been.
Fortunately he talked normally and without anger for things that had happened.

Later that day, during a quiet and private moment, Ketcha was asked how Alfredo was taking the loss of his dog.
We didn’t talk about it, said Ketcha, but he knew this was going to happen.

After dinner, on the way to the Fuso Szulc, Gumaro was met who had finished taking care of his horses.
In a pitch-black night with billions of stars above us Gumaro told that he had a conversation with his brother Alfredo.
And that things are not good.
Alfredo is angry now with Gumaro for taking the dogs.

Gumaro was supported.
Assured he had done the only and right thing.
And that it was Alfredo who was wrong.

These brothers will find a way to work things out between them.
And how wonderful it is nobody else is involved in the quarrel.
And how wonderful to walk past the tree where Gorba used to be chained up and suffer and realize he is happy and free now at a better place.
He will be visited of course as soon as the opportunity presents itself.

The second major event was the arrival of the parcel containing the Combiner Box and everything needed to install it.
To fix up the way the solar system had been installed by Santek Trailers on the roof of the Fuso Szulc.

Sending the parcel by DHL from San Diego to La Ribera, Baja California, Mexico, was costing over $ 100 on top of which the Mexican “Aduana” made the receiver pay 30 % import tax.
But the parcel had arrived and this within one week.
Thanks to loyal friend Robert Hill from San Diego.

The whole day was spend connecting new and better wires to the solar panels and hooking them up to the Combiner Box.

Two astonishing discoveries were made doing this job.
There are 6 solar panels on the roof.
Already before it was learned that one panel was not producing electricity.
That particular solar panel was turned over and next it was discovered that Santek Trailers had connected it in a completely wrong way.
To terminals not having any electricity.
An expensive solar panel, that can produce over 4 amp’s, on the roof doing nothing simply because the installer was doing a lousy job.

The second discovery was that all the plastic boxes on the backs of the solar panels had not been sealed off by Santek Trailers.
They had knocked out a round space for the wire to enter and left it open without sealing it.
Hence, inside the box a paradise for insects was found.
And dust and oxidation.

At the end of the day all solar panels were connected properly and the result was stunning.
Considerably more production of electricity.
And now the solar system is safe.

This activity of re-wiring and fixing the solar system, like many other activities that were needed, are the result of Santek Trailers not doing an acceptable job.
This company is out of business and it is realized that nobody else has to go through the same experiences.
And that is a good and positive conclusion.

Alfredo and Santek Trailers: responsible for eventually feeling great.
