Finally Gorba free

For months.
Waiting for months.

To see Gorba, the terrible dog, escape from Alfredo’s torturous treatment.
To have him go to another rancho where no goats are present, so that Gorba can walk around freely and live like a decent dog.
Not chained to a tree with hardly any food nor water as is his life for the last year.

Last Sunday Alfredo left again to spend time with his fiancé.
It is Thursday now and he has not come back.
Meanwhile Gorba is chained under his tree with no food and dirty water only.
The other dog of Alfredo, nicknamed “Doggie”, roams around puzzled and hungry.

Over the last 4 months efforts have been made to transfer the dogs to the goat free rancho of Don Rafaël near La Paz.
Light pressure.
Sweet insisting.
Making it a regular subject.
Diplomatic suggestions.

But things go their own way.
Not as the one identifying with the unnecessary suffering of the dogs would like to see.

Last week a new strategy was applied.
Over the last year, when Alfredo disappeared to his love nest, Gorba and Doggie were taken care of with daily fresh water and delicious dogfood from Pedigree.
Alfredo couldn’t care.
For him it is the same: someone feeds his dogs or nobody feeds his dogs.
When, last week, he was asked to buy dog food himself for a change he badmouthed the good intentioned photographer.
That was rather preposterous and explaining what a difficult character he is.
As of then the new strategy was not to take care of his dogs anymore.
Alfredo witnessed that but couldn’t care.

However, the new strategy was effect full.
Last night, Doggie, not chained like Gorba, desperate for food, attacked a young goat and wounded it.

This morning Gumaro, Alfredo’s brother and neighbour, came to the Fuso Szulc for help.
He was going with a truck to La Paz and wanted to take the two dogs with him to deliver them at the goat free rancho.
But Gumaro is afraid of those dogs and knows how friendly the dogs are with the European photographer.

The dogs were loaded in the truck and they are on their way to a better life.

It will be interesting to see what happens when Alfredo returns.
For complaints he will be invited to contact his brother Gumaro.

I wonder if he will still try and blame you for the loss of his dogs, It being your idea to find another rancho for the dogs for some time. You can only hope that his family will agree with the decision and tell him to back off if he shows bitterness towards you. This could still be a sticky situation for you.
The dogs are safe and that is what is important, Robert

I am happy for Gorba and Doggie. I hope they will find happiness at their new rancho. Will you visit them there and give us a report on their well-being?
