A ship without a captain

Life is a series of natural and spontaneous changes.
Don't resist them-that only creates sorrow.
Let reality be reality.
Let things flow naturally forward in whatever way they like.

A quote by the Chinese philosopher Lao-tse.
A simple observation but how hard it can be in life to accept what life has to offer.
How strong is not the tendency to stay where one is: on grounds known to be able to carry the weight.
While the surface in the front could be a swamp.
Or solid ground.

These days life is like a bamboo tree.
Enjoying to be alive and to be upright.
But having to bend when strong winds blow.

Changes come and they are of major impact.
The bamboo is tested to its limits.
The tendency to want to avoid the storms is strong.
But reality is allowed to be reality.
To let it be without connecting too much to it.

It is unknown where this river wants to flow to.
Through what landscapes it will travel.
And if there will be strong waterfalls.

But for the moment the way of thinking of Lao-tse is followed.
A ship without a captain.
